Exercise "Talisman Saber" will start next month, involving Australian and United States troops at Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton, in central Queensland, and further exercises in Townsville and the Northern Territory.Brigadier David McKaskill from the Australian Defence Force says there will be 20,000 US troops and more than 7,000 Australians."It gives us an opportunity for both the US and Australian military forces to get together and practise what our profession is," he said
It's about high end war fighting right down through to looking after humanitarian assistance. In fact, it's even bigger than that, because we involve non-government organisations and other elements of the Government such as the quarantine services."The exercise is estimated to inject more than $9 million into the Rockhampton and Townsville areas.Brigadier McKaskill says the first phase of the exercise is already under way in Hawaii."Based on a fictitious enemy, the exercise will be conducted in two parts," he said."The first part is virtually a very large computer game and the very senior sirs will be looking at a screen and seeing all their forces and they'll have to fight those forces causing them to make decisions."The second part will be the live portion, which will be conducted in Australia in the Shoalwater Bay area near Rockhampton and Townsville."

How can people put a price tag on the priceless enviroment that GOD gave to the world nobody asked me if they could do this don't we as a people have a say about this 9million dollars could go to much better use saving the enviroment than putting it in peril. I am outraged how the military can make all the these decisions without addressing the people and they probably use terriorist as the reason I would say the militrary is terriorising the enviroment. Think about your children and grandchildren is there going to be anything for them to bad if they have a but load of money what are they going to visit on their vacations vast areas of wasteland and contamination. I the government has pinheads and cannot think past their bank accounts then we need to help them what is the solution I am for peace and prosperity and I think we can do this without the help of the military let our hearts and our morals lead our judgement for a better future. have you ever seen a blue tongued skink only a GOD for all the people could come up with this I hope we could all come together as a world with love and caring for each and everyone GOD didn't make anyone one that is not needed even the military but let all of the people make the decisions about what we can and cann't do to this precious world.
